The IPL Auction 2023 started with the name of ex SRH captain Kane Williamson and surprisingly none other than Gujarat Titans bid for him. 3-star players who may not find takers in IPL 2024 due to poor performance this season
‘RCB didn’t deserve to be in top 4’ – Faf du Plessis massive commentary as Bangalore loses 405 playoff players to be auctioned at Indian Premier League (IPL) Mini-Auctions December 23 in Kochi, Kerala . Some big names like Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green should be in high demand by franchises.
In addition to the big names, there may also be players who may not be generating that hype and may be ignored by teams. Sounds rude, but it always happens at auctions when the big names go unsold. For example, West Indies cricket great Brian Lara once went unsold in IPL auctions in 2011. Similarly, in 2022, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star player Suresh Raina, also known as Mr IPL , remained unsold.
Bowlers Who Can Return To Ipl 2023 As Replacements After Going Unsold At The Auction
1. Ajinkya Rahane: In the IPL 2022, Rahane played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and scored 144 runs in 7 matches at an average of 19.00. KKR released it ahead of the auctions. He failed to bat in the first six power play overs as a result of which the team had to bench him in other games.
Also, Rahane may go unsold as he hasn’t been as consistent in recent years. He has been playing IPL since 2008 and in the last three editions his average has been 19, 8 and 14.12. In fact, Rahane’s style of play is a run-a-ball and he takes his time to the court. Hence, he is no longer a part of the Indian T20I squad and is only playing Tests.
Rahane’s base price is Rs 50. Rahane was previously part of Rajasthan Royals (RR), Deccan Chargers (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI).

2. Sheldon Jackson: Right wicketkeeper batsman was bought by KKR in 2022 for a price of Rs 60 lakh. But Jackson failed to hit in the games he got.
Ipl Mini Auction 2023
However, a good keeper, Jackson did not impress with the bat at all, scoring 23 runs in 5 games at a 5.75 average. He also appeared for KKR in 2017 but then failed to make an impression as he only scored 16 runs in the 4 games he got.
Jackson, in his overall IPL career, played in just 9 matches, scoring 61 runs at an average of 10.17. The base price of him is 20 lei, but he could go unsold at auctions.
3. Amit Mishra: Even though the bowler has 166 wickets to his name in 154 IPL matches, Amit Mishra could be another big name that could be overlooked by the franchises.
It may also be due to the fact that Mishra’s IPL journey has not been smooth enough for the past 2 years. In the 2022 IPL auctions he remained unsold.
Ipl 2023 Retention: Royal Challengers Bangalore (rcb) Retained And Released Players List
In 2020, his stint with Delhi Capitals was cut short and he had to miss the rest of the tournament due to injury. He could only play 3 matches and had 3 wickets to his name. He came back in 2021 but only got 4 matches where he only got 6 wickets. In the rest of the games he was on the bench. This was also a big reason why no team showed interest in him.
The main reason why Amit Mishra failed to make the teams is his age. The UP-born cricketer is 40 years old; which also makes him among the older players in the IPL auctions.
Despite him being a skilled fast bowler, Amit Mishra may not find any team as there are more options in the bowling department.

4. Mohammad Nabi: The Afghanistan all-rounder was part of the KKR franchise in 2022 but hasn’t gotten a single game. As there were Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine in the squad as all-rounders, Nabi didn’t get a match.
Ipl 2023 Auction: Sold And Unsold Players List; Sam Curran, Cameron Green, Ben Stokes Shatter Past Bidding Records
He was released by management before the auctions. Nabi was previously a part of the Hyderabad franchise. His success came in 2019 when he played 8 matches for Hyderabad, racking up 8 wickets including a four wicket haul.
Nabi could be one of the names that could go unsold as he hasn’t played much in the IPL in the past three years. In 2020 he received 1 match; in 2021, 3 games and in 2022,
