Suresh Raina Ipl – Suresh Raina missed IPL 2020 for Chennai Super Kings due to personal reasons. by Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan.
Suresh Raina, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket along with MS Dhoni, will not play IPL 2020 for Chennai Super Kings. A statement released by franchise CEO Kasi Viswanathan said, “Suresh Raina has returned to India due to personal reasons and will not be available for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offer their full support to Suresh and his family at this time.” The latest development is yet another blow to Chennai Super Kings’ campaign, which is currently in disarray after a team player and 11 staff members tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday.

There are no confirmed reports as to why Raina left the Chennai Super Kings team, but it continues their poor start ahead of the IPL. The impact of the coronavirus on the three-time champions threw their entire preparations into disarray. While the names of those infected are still unknown, the Chennai-based franchise is yet to make an official statement on the matter and they are expected to do so next Saturday. According to many claims, at least 10 CSK members in the CSK team – including an Indian cricketer – are among the list of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in Dubai.

The entire CSK team, including support staff and officials, underwent their fourth COVID-19 test on Friday. The latest test results will be known on Saturday. They further added that no support staff tested positive and only one member of the social media team and two net bowlers came back positive. An official statement is likely to be released by CSK soon. With the 13th edition of the IPL less than a month away, teams are gearing up for the tournament to be held in the UAE in a bio-secure environment.
In Abu Dhabi, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders began their training session after being in quarantine for almost six days. Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI PUnjab have also started training as they are the earliest to come to the UAE. However, the situation at Chennai Super Kings is alarming and it will take a lot of effort to ensure that the tournament goes ahead without any COVID disaster.

Suresh Raina To Miss Csk’s Next Two Games With Calf Injury
Think IPL. Think of a left-hander, in a yellow jersey, sweeping it over the center post. Chris Gayle may have captured the imagination of the Indian public in recent seasons, but Suresh Raina has deposited a six piece on the Chennai crowd since the IPL began. The intense nature of Twenty20 and the mundanity of the game in the two-month long IPL season makes it difficult to form a permanent image in one’s mind. But that image of Raina remained throughout the six seasons of the IPL, an instant memory whenever the name of the league comes up. Given that, it’s rather incongruous that Raina to this day doesn’t have a century in a tournament that has given him so much. In many ways, the IPL made Raina, and also gave him a chance to do what he wanted to do but couldn’t do in international cricket. He hasn’t been able to crack it at Test level at least so far. He may have a point when he says he’s not that bad against the short ball and is working to get better, but he’s also let it get to his head, and it’s hindered his hitting. Ability, seen or not, was not an issue in ODIs, but the team combination was against it. He has made it clear more than a few times that he wants to move up the order in one-dayers so that he can have a chance to score more hundreds, but India’s top order has been spoiled. He also developed a reputation as a finisher in the format, something that may have gone against his ideals as well. What could not happen in white or blue, happened in the yellow of Chennai Super Kings. From the start of the IPL, Raina has consistently bowled much higher against India, under the same captaincy. The result has been striking consistency – he has scored over 400 runs in every IPL season so far, and is on course to do so again in 2013. He has the most T20 runs by an Indian, and among the top eight run-scorers in the format, is the only one who is not a free-lancer. IPL hundred. That’s one big feather missing from Raina’s T20 cap. Paul Valthaty has it. Manish Pandey has it. It took six seasons to come, but slowly, and finally Raina is now too. How much does it mean to him? On the 52nd delivery, in the stifling Chennai heat, he dived into the crease to beat the toss for the second run to reach 99. He stood up, pumped his fist and cried. No, it wasn’t a premature celebration, but something else from the past four seasons was on his mind. He avoided runs and has a chance to reach the landmark he thought he had achieved in the 2009 IPL season at Centurion. On the day, a scoreboard error fooled Raina into believing he had become the first Indian to achieve this. IPL hundred – Manish Pandey is yet to happen – in fact he has reached 98. He leaps into the air, celebrates and drops the next ball, walking back confident that he’s done it. It took another four years, but
