Gayle, who recently spoke to JioCinema on ‘Legend Speak’, admitted that Rahul has the potential to break his record. He pointed out that Rahul is a dangerous batsman in the death overs and if he manages to score a big hundred, he can get the job done. Gayle also said that records are meant to be broken and it is only a matter of time before someone surpasses his record.
“First of all, I believe KL Rahul! On his day he can do it. I don’t think he believes in his ability to score so much but listen to me, we all have seen KL Rahul move and if he made up his mind to hit like that sometimes, if not most of the times I would like to see him, he will definitely get it. If he gets a good start and he gets a hundred, he will definitely get past 175,” Gayle said.

By India Today Web Desk: Former West Indies batsman Chris Gayle recalled his stunning 175 for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) and said the entire cricket fraternity stopped to watch the carnage in it in Bengaluru. Comparing his knock to Usain Bolt’s 100m dash, Gayle said he surprised cricket fans and is happy to be a part of IPL history.
Gayle hit the fastest hundred in T20 cricket, a record that stands alone today as he got to the triple digit score in just 30 balls. Gayle went on to score 175 not out in 66 balls, which is the highest score in the IPL.
Gayle was in high spirits at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as he went after all the bowlers in the now defunct Pune Warriors team. The big West Indian star smashed 13 boundaries and 17 sixes as he helped RCB post a total of 263 for 5 in 20 overs. Gayle and Tilakaratne Dilshan added 167 for the opener, but the Sri Lankan batsman managed just 33 runs in the stands, watching the carnage from the other end, more often than not.
