Some big names like Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green are expected to be in high demand by the franchises.
In addition to the big names, there may also be players who may not produce much and may be overlooked by teams. It sounds silly, but this happens all the time at auctions as big names go unsold. For example, Brian Lara, the great Indian cricketer, was once sold in the IPL auction in 2011. Similarly, in 2022, Suresh Raina, the star player of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), also known as Mister IPL, he was not sold.
1. Ajinkya Rahane: Rahane played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2022 and scored 144 runs in 7 matches at an average of 19.00. KKR released him before the auction. He failed to hit the first six balls of the power play, so the team had to leave him on the bench for the rest of the game.
Rahein may also not be sold as he has not changed in the last few years. He has been playing in the IPL since 2008 and has averaged 19, 8 and 14.12 in the last three matches. In fact, Rahein’s style of play is to chase the ball and take up space on the line. Therefore, he too is no longer in the Indian T20I squad and is playing only in Tests.
Ipl 2023 Auction: 3 Players With Inr 2 Crore Base Price Might Remain Unsold
Rahane’s base price is 50 million. Rahane was formerly with Rajasthan Royals (RR), Deccan Chargers (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI).
2. Sheldon Jackson: The right-handed wicket-slugger was bought by KKR in 2022 for Rs 60 crore. But Jackson failed to hit in the matches he got.
However, Jackson, a good guard, never impressed with his bat, scoring 23 points in 5 games with a 5.75 ERA. He also played for KKR in 2017 but even then he failed to impress as he scored only 16 runs in the 4 matches he played.

Jackson played just 9 matches in his IPL career, scoring 61 runs at an average of 10.17. Its base price is 20 million but it may remain unsold at auction.

3. Amit Mishra. Despite the leg-broken ball with 166 in 154 IPL matches to his credit, Amit Mishra could be another big name that franchises can ignore.
This could also be due to the fact that Mishra’s IPL journey has not been successful in the last 2 years. It continues to be sold at the IP22 2022 auction.
In 2020, his tenure in the capital city of Delhi was cut short and he had to sit out the rest of the tournament due to injury. He managed to play only 3 games and has 3 goals to his name. He returned in 2021 but made only 4 appearances, scoring only 6. For the rest of the games, he was on the bench. This was also a big reason why no team paid attention to him.
The biggest reason why Amit Mishra cannot play in the team is his age. The 40-year-old UP-born actor; which also makes him one of the oldest players in the IPL auction.

4. Mohammad Nabi: The Afghanistan pacer was in the KKR franchise in 2022 but did not get a single match. Since the team had Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine as all players, Naby did not get a single game.
It was released by the board before the auction. Nabis was formerly part of the Hyderabad franchise. His breakthrough came in 2019 when he played 8 matches in Hyderabad scoring 8 goals including four.

Nabi could be one of the potential buyers as he has not played much in the IPL in the last three years. In 2020, he hosted 1 game; in 2021 – 3 games, and in 2022 he was on the bench for all competitions.

He did not receive any more matches after which he was released by the Delhi authorities. In 2022, it remained for sale. Although his name is on the list of 405 players to be auctioned, the 34-year-old midfielder may not be sold.
6. Jason Roy In 2022, new franchise Gujarat Titans attracted Roy with a base price of Rs 2 crore. However, Roy withdrew from the tournament due to “extreme fatigue” issues, which took a toll on the team before the tournament even started.
Moreover, Roy, who has a T20 cricket score of 140, is in trouble. Because of this, the England team also banned him from the T20I World Cup.
