Reliance Jio recently confirmed that the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL) will be streamed on JioCinema. IPL 2023 starts on March 31 with Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings and will be available to stream online in 4K (UltraHD) resolution. As of now, Disney + Hotstar is streaming the IPL in India and only those who pay the subscription can see the matches.
Similar to the multicam feature of FIFA World Cup 2022, JioCinema allows users to switch between multiple camera views for all 74 matches. JioPhone users can stream IPL 2023 for free as the feature phone now supports JioCinema. The app allows you to check stats like score and pitch heatmap on phones, while those watching on a big screen can see information along with the game.
JioCinema users can stream games in 12 languages including English, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and Bhojpuri to name a few. When switching between languages, not only the comment changes, but the statistics and graphics are also displayed in the selected language.
The company is also expected to launch the much-loved Jio Media Cable accessory, which will allow people with a non-smart TV without HDMI ports to stream games using their phones. Although Reliance has not confirmed anything, speculation suggests that the company is working on an affordable virtual reality headset called JioDive and virtual reality glasses called JioGlass. These devices can allow users to enjoy IPL in a 360 degree format.
