CINCINNATI, Oct. 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. The 122-acre Belterra Park Gaming & Entertainment Center will open in May 2014, pending regulatory approval, and represents an estimated investment of more than $300 million for Pinnacle Entertainment, including land and licensing fees.

Belterra Park will provide the best entertainment destination on the market with live races, pari-mutuel betting, 1,600 video lottery terminals and six dynamic restaurants, a VIP lounge, ample parking and more. The race facility will feature a one-mile dirt track and the only grass track in Ohio. A new grandstand included in the project along with OTB Racebook – River Downs Club, a new paddock, jockey’s foot and 17 new barns.
The economic impact of the Belterra Park Game & Entertainment Center will be felt immediately, with 700 permanent jobs expected to be created and annual salaries and benefits expected to exceed $23 million. The investment of more than $300 million will create 350 construction jobs during the expansion renovation.
In building the Belterra Park Game & Entertainment Center, Pinnacle Entertainment will preserve and honor the rich history of the property that was once the River Downs Racetrack. The track’s original domes will be incorporated into the new design of the property on the infield stringer and Winner’s Circle. In addition, a terracotta sculpture of a horse’s head from the original grandstand will be displayed on the ground floor of the property. Plans also require the River Downs Club to display racing memorabilia and original jockey sides from races with historic stakes.
